My Christmas cards are a labor of love. If you'd like to learn more about how I make them, watch the behind-the-scenes video below or click the button below to see a separate page about it all. (But don't forget to come back here and keep reading!) 😉

🥳 Some of my 2023 favorites

🎵 Some favorite holiday songs

Il Est Né le Divin Enfant

This song is especially meaningful at Christmas, as it talks about the birth of Jesus. Lexi Walker's voice, the meaning of the song, the orchestral accompaniment... it's perfect!

Kyrie Eleison

The harmonies of this song immediately stood out to me and gave me the chills! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

At This Table

This is a holiday song I heard for the first time a few weeks ago. I love the message in it, especially for families gathering during the holidays.

Here is a Christmas playlist I created on Spotify. It's a very calming collection of music, for those of you that enjoy that style.

🍝 Fun food I ate during my trips

Okonomiyaki in Hiroshima (Japan)

Okonomiyaki - a savory "pancake" creation of noodles on a bed of cabbage, with multiple sauces, onions, etc. I was able to visit the famous Lopez Okonomiyaki shop in Hiroshima, where Chef Lopez adds jalapeños on top! Yum!

Smørrebrød in Copenhagen (Denmark)

This is an open-faced sandwich popular in Denmark. It's as artistic as it is tasty. Although it's a bit challenging to eat, it was fun to try!

Pink Soup in Lithuania

This is one of the most vibrant-colored soups I think I've ever tried! It's a cold, yogurt-based beetroot soup. I enjoyed it, but I will say that the ones I tried were not as flavorful as you would think they'd be, based on this photo. And the place that had the pink soup I enjoyed the most was actually... IKEA!

Fried Bread in Lithuania

This is literally fried bread. But it's very flavorful because of the cheesy garlic dipping sauce, plus the freshly grated garlic on top. I'd recommend sharing it with a friend so you're not the only one with garlic breath! 🙂

Dessert Pasta in Sweden (although this food is of Romanian heritage, I believe)

Dessert pasta, with butter, sugar, cinnamon, and nuts. It definitely works as a dish. (Carbs + fat + sugar... what could go wrong?) Here's a recipe that seems similar to what I tried.

📕 A few favorite books I read

Fearfully and Wonderfully

by Paul Brand & Philip Yancey

It tells of how beautifully complex the human body is and how God made each part of us with a specific purpose in mind.

What to Say When You Talk to Yourself

by Shad Helmstetter

This fascinating book talks about how we can train our brains to learn a new "language" for the voice inside our head. The idea is that through passively hearing positive statements about ourselves, we can train our brains to think this way, which ultimately affects how we live our lives.

Dreams and Visions

by Tom Doyle

This book tells incredible stories of Jesus visiting people in their dreams. It talks about the immense challenges these people face as they make the decision to follow Him, even though it may cost them their lives.

🌴 Photos from some of my travels this year

Here are a handful of my favorite photos from my trips this year. I took all the photos myself (usually with my phone), and I do enhance the colors sometimes, just FYI. 😉

✈️ I might be starting a travel newsletter...

While I am always learning more about how to make the most out of my travels, I am thinking about creating a travel website and/or email newsletter to share some travel tips I've learned over the years.

The email newsletter would likely be more about general travel tips, rather than what to do in a specific place (but who knows!?). Topics might include things like: traveling with only a carry-on, what to-do list items you should know before you travel, etc. I'll also sprinkle in a few tips about travel credit card points and how I use them to enhance my travels.

I don't know when my first email will happen, but if the idea sounds interesting to you, please sign up below (you can always unsubscribe later). Thanks!

🎨 What is ANEW?

This is my graphic design company. I am blessed to work with clients from around the world. In short, I help clients turn their ideas into visual realities, often with an element of "streamlining" processes included.

If your business is needing a graphic designer who works remotely, I would be happy to talk with you and see what the possibilities are.

📖 Why that business name?

Not only is ANEW a mixture of my name, but is also part of one of my favorite verses: "For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." Ephesians 2:10 NLT.

I truly believe God helps guide my work and what I do (it's something I regularly ask Him to help me with). While I'm not a perfect business owner (as a human, I make mistakes), and I still have so much to learn—but I am honored to work for the ultimate Designer, Jesus. I'm learning new things every day from Him.

🖌️ What kind of design do you do?

I work on a range of projects, from print materials (magazines, brochures, etc.), to exhibition/event designs. You can see examples of my work on my portfolio.

I recently designed and installed an exhibition for the University of Chicago (Hong Kong) campus. Here is a video they produced to highlight the launch.
